Dr. Kay Redfield Jamison

I was lucky to stumble upon a video talk by Dr. Kay Redfield Jamison. It is very early on a Saturday morning, however, and I haven't watched the complete video yet.

Dr. Kay speaks about the importance of exuberance and yet, expresses that so much research has been done about depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses in terms of the negative sides and yet...so little on exuberance, a beginning stages of mania which is NOT negative. She has suffered from bipolar disorder. So, she knows about this first-hand and as a professional. I am excited about her talk.

Exuberance is close to joy, and as a person who has suffered some debilitating depressions in my life, I know that exuberance is the emotion that reversed the chemistry in my body so that life became a passion again. Elation is perhaps synonymous with exuberance, n'est ce pas?
