Silent Scream

The Silent Scream is about our inner world. The fear locked inside that is too horrible to even talk about and disclose to anyone. This is why it looms so large. It is a secret. We think no one else has such a fear and we wall ourselves into an imaginary brick area and can not breathe as the trapped character in Poe's The Cask of Amontillado.

If we can understand the thoughts in our heads....what the fear is about and it has not generalized into an anxiety...then we can learn to breathe again.

Here is the key. Say to yourself. This is where I am right now. I can start little by little to change this. For instance, if you have been avoiding the bills. The more you do not pay them or make the phone calls - the worse it may get. However, if you start going through a small pile and throwing what you can, and organizing a bit, the fear will begin to lift a little. Then the next day you may continue - until the pile is no longer frightening and you have a new way to handle the bills.

We imagine that we are the only ones dealing with certain difficulties. If we talk to another and realize we are not alone...we change our perception. When a person isolates due to fear, it is very hard to get a new perspective. You only see your own. It is healthy to step on the fear and take action!
