Coming Together...Something To Say

Sometimes it feels as if things in our lives are falling apart - dispersing...
Sometimes it feels as if things are coming together...

I think it is difficult to accept the disappearing...losing time...material things...friends go
out of our lives...we grow up and leave...our children grow up and leave...and people die...

We deny so much...thinking there is a constant...
Yet...as William James the philosopher stated..."There is nothing so constant as change itself"

In creating art, we capture the fleeting moment/s, harness time in a way we can not in life.
The magical powers of art allow us to create a sense of permanence. We allow the ideas to
float in and come together to form some type of structure. We whittle away until it is "just so" and voila...we have an expression, a point of view...something to say...

Hi Nancy,

There's something wrong with my mail server again and I can't send an email to you, so I'm just stopping by to let you know that I'm still around and I've been thinking about you. Thanks for leaving a comment on my latest blog entry. I can still receive mail if you want to email me, but I might have to respond from the Artid site, for now unless I figure it out.

The weirdest thing for me is the feeling that things are falling apart AND coming together almost at the same time. It's not always either/or and that can be confusing.

I've been writing songs this week and listening to older recordings, most within the last two years. The hard part is following through on an initial idea. I have a lot of fragments, but not many fleshed out songs. So I have to keep at it or let it go.
